Hello Sunshine,

As always, I appreciate your well thought out responses.

Firstly, I agree that many successful folks in our history have indeed been "in the right place and the right time." That said, Elon's stunning corporate success is a bit more complex. He has the brain space and mathematical capacity to see things other don't - which to me - is the difference between intelligence and genius.

And Elon did indeed earn his billions - even factoring in his fortunate upbringing.

With regards to Elon's recent Pronoun Tweet - it's telling to his own personal beliefs that our progressive left have taken their ideology a bit too far - which on its face has some merit - and why I enjoyed this particular article so much. Kevin (the author of this piece) does a wonderful job of capturing the angst of many small C conservatives today with the "entitlement" of many folks here in the Silicon Valley. And he did so with his typical snarky humor and necessary tenure as a digital executive himself.

With regards to Elon's personal mantra as a "free speech absolutist", he is now experiencing the reality of that claim as the owner of a social media site he purchased with his monstrous ego... and minimal understanding of how to operate a media company.

And I could not agree more about worshipping people due to money... its sad and telling to our culture at large - and one of the reasons we elected a narcissist ignoramus douchebag like Donald Trump as our President in 2016.

Regarding Elon's "influence", and/or his "dominating the people around him" - nobody at Tesla, SpaceX, or Twitter are forced to work for Elon - considering that indentured servitude is no longer a THING - especially here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Most (if not all) of these Tech Folk are supremely talented people who can choose their place of employment.

For the record, I would NEVER work for Elon or anyone like him.

With regards to an "exhausted" public - we can agree there, too. I'm tired of the nonsense, lies, and contradictions of many of our corporate and political leaders- and why I started a media company to bring these stories to the fore.

I'm currently interviewing former employees of Twitter for a piece I plan on publishing sometime in the New Year. And I look forward to your continued Comments - even if they contradict my own (smile).

Thanks again for your time and energy. I hope this note finds you well!

Maybe it's because I know that half of financial success is from being in the right place at the right time that I don't canonize Elon as a god amongst men who is incapable of being as stupid as our lowest denominator. It's incredible how many pieces I read that defend him while ignoring his failures and stupidity he freely puts on public display via a random tweet that is so silly and stupid, it makes you wonder if he slipped and fell into a well of money instead of earning any of it.

Yes, the man that named his child A AE A-12 and complains about how much pronouns suck bought a social media company because of his hobby as a part-time troll. No, I'm sorry, I meant to say that he wanted to protect free speech. Then he proceeded to reinstate spreaders of hate speech while suspending accounts critical of him and his policies. Does anyone else see the contradictions here or are we drinking too much of the Tesla brand Kool-Aid?

We need to stop worshipping people with money as if they have answers. They don't. Most are just lucky people that are assertive enough to dominate the people around them. No one person should have that much influence and power over your opinion. He is just another guy and one that says some pretty stupid things at that.

Free speech is not under attack. If anything, with opinions flying at me like privacy-violating heat-sinking missiles, I've had my fill of it and would prefer people do a bit more reading and listening than talking. After 4 years of trump and his cult worshipers dominating the news and social media, I certainly don't want another round from Elon and his gang of thugs.

I think the talking heads are underestimating the exhaustion we have with this and should probably pay attention to it if they want to stay ahead of the conversation. I hardly know anyone that isn't sick of it at this point. Many of us say things like we want social media gone or we want it regulated to irrelevancy. This backlash is growing. If I were a talking head or someone that depends on public support, I would start listening to more of this and less from the next wave of cult propaganda spreaders.
